Our Story
Eight years, one big dream.
We met in 2016 at a friend's wedding — Marcus was playing guitar in the band, and Emily (so the story goes) caught the bouquet that same night. We like to think someone was trying to tell us something.
We were married two years later under a big oak tree, surrounded by the people we love most. Ever since, we've been building a quiet, joyful life together — Sunday pancakes, long walks with the dog, music in the kitchen — and dreaming of the day we get to share it with a child of our own through adoption.

Marcus
Marcus is a high-school band director who has never met a song he couldn't hum. He's patient, a little goofy, and the first to volunteer for the messy job. Weekends usually find him hiking a trail, coaching Little League, or fixing something in the garage with the radio on.

Emily
Emily is a pediatric nurse with an enormous soft spot for tiny humans. She's warm, organized, and happiest with flour on her hands or a paperback in her lap. Her garden is a little wild, her cookies are legendary, and she's been ready to be a mom for as long as she can remember.

From Our Hearts
Why we're hoping to adopt.
Becoming parents has been our dream from the very beginning. After a long and winding road, adoption is the path our hearts have always been pointed toward — and we couldn't be more ready.
01
A home that's ready
We have the space, the stability, and the steady love a child needs — and so much room in our lives for one more.
02
A village behind us
Grandparents, cousins, lifelong friends, and a whole community are already cheering for this child and ready to help us raise them.
03
Open hearts
We believe a child can never have too many people who love them. We're open to staying connected, in whatever way feels right for everyone.
A Letter to You
Dear friend,
We don't know your name yet, or your story, but we want you to know — we think you are brave. Considering an adoption plan for your child is one of the most loving, selfless things a person can do, and we don't take lightly that you're even reading these words.
If you choose us, we promise your child will grow up knowing they were wanted by everyone in their story — including you. They'll have pancakes on Sundays, a dog who follows them everywhere, a yard to run in, and two parents who will show up, every single day, with everything we have.
And we promise to honor you. However much or little contact feels right to you, we'll respect it. Your courage will always be part of our family's story, told with love and gratitude.
There's no pressure and no rush. Take your time. Whatever you decide, we're holding hope for you and your baby.
With love and hope, Marcus & Emily

🔍 SEO & Keywords Guide — for the Bennett Family
Helping expectant mothers find your family on Google
This page is just for you — it's not visible to visitors. When an expectant mother searches online for an adoptive family, you want your site to be one she finds. Here's how to make that more likely, in plain language.
The golden rule: Write for a real person first, search engines second. Everything below works best when it sounds warm and honest — never stiff or stuffed with keywords.
1. Why keywords matter
Google tries to match what people search for with the words on your website. If an expectant mother types "adoptive family in Indiana" and those words appear naturally on your site, Google is far more likely to show her your page. Keywords are simply the real phrases your audience would type.
2. A starter list of keywords for your family
Work these phrases naturally into your headings, paragraphs, blog posts, and photo descriptions. Don't force them — just use them where they genuinely fit.

3. Where to actually put your keywords
The page title & description — the text that shows up in Google's search results. Make sure your names, "hoping to adopt," and your state are in there.
Section headings — a heading like "An adoptive family in Carmel, Indiana" beats a vague one like "About Us."
Your Journey posts — blog and vlog titles are great keyword spots. Fresh posts also tell Google your site is active, which helps your ranking.
Photo descriptions (alt text) — every photo can have a hidden text description. "Marcus and Emily, a hopeful adoptive family, in their Indiana home" is far better than "IMG_4821."
Captions and link text — small bits of text everywhere add up.
4. Blog & vlog topic ideas that get found
Posting regularly is one of the most powerful things you can do. These topics naturally contain phrases people search for:
"Why we chose open adoption"
"A letter to our future child's birth mother"
"What our home study process was like"
"Meet our extended family in Indiana"
"Our promises to you as adoptive parents"
"A day in the life with the Bennett family"
5. A few honest reminders
Never keyword-stuff. Repeating phrases unnaturally makes your site read poorly and can actually hurt your ranking.
Be truthful. Only describe your family, home, and intentions as they really are. Trust matters more than traffic.
Be patient. Search rankings build slowly over weeks and months. Consistent, genuine updates win.
Ask your agency. Adoptions of Indiana may also list your profile — combine that reach with your own site.
Coming later: Once your site is hosted, you can connect free tools like Google Search Console to see exactly which searches bring people to you — and adjust from there.
